Hi Svante,

Thanks for replying.  The only reason for updating AxCrypt (from 1.7.2867.0) was because after some Windows 10 update (oh no, not yet another) I couldn’t open an encrypted Excel file if Excel was already open.

I thought my message sounded quite negative, and I wanted to add a line to say that except for this recent glitch I have used AxCrypt without difficulty for some years now – it’s been very good software, low profile, it just works without fuss.

Luckily I had a backup system – no matter how much we trust our software, as you say, backups are essential .
