Tried searching around and couldn’t find an answer.

Lets say you started with the free version of AxCrypt 2 and you encrypted your files (AES-128). After upgrading to premium, are your files automatically encrypted with a 256bit  key? Or do you have to open them or actively do something? or is the key stuck at 128bit since it was created in the free version?

I am in the trial version of premium and I do not see any option of setting the encryption level.

There isn’t such a feature although it is is planned.

At the minute the 128-bit files are upgraded to 256-bit when they’re next accessed.

A quick workaround would be to find all .AXX files and open them simultaneously. AxCrypt would then upgrade them to 256-bit when the file is next closed.

In a similar vain, if you start with a premium trial then your files are encrypted with 256-bit encryption but are downgraded to 128-bit when they’re next accessed (after the trial ends).
