    Two questions:

Can an AxCrypt password protected Excel spreadsheet also have its own password?

Why is an AxCrypt protected Excel spreadsheet unopenableby anyone, but an Excel password protected spreadsheet can be opened by any number of softwares?  Why cannot MS do the same with its password protection that AxCrypt can do?

    Hello Tom,

It may or may not be AxCrypt password protected Excel spreadsheet(s) also have its own password.

If the user protected the file with the password in excel and after that the same is encrypted with the AxCrypt, the file needs both the password to view the contents.

So it will be based on users choice. I think, its better use any one of the two options. AxCrypt will encrypt the complete file and changed to .axx file.

Excel just protects the file with the password but still the files are in excel file extensions only.

AxCrypt encrypted files should have a file extension “.axx”as per our design. Also, default application for the file type “.axx” should be AxCrypt app only.

AxCrypt app only can open and interpret the contents the AxCrypt encrypted files (with the .axx extension). No other applications can do this. Because we do have our own design and file structure.
