Why AxCrypt’s Password Manager?

AxCrypt’s Password Manager is a powerful and easy-to-use tool for securely managing and sharing your passwords, card details, and notes wherever you are.

AxCrypt secures your data using the strongest encryption algorithm, AES-256, with Zero-Knowledge Encryption. This means that access to your data solely resides with you and no one else, not even AxCrypt.

The Password Manager can be accessed from any web browser or using AxCrypt’s mobile apps on Android & iOS. When data is synchronized to your devices, the data remains encrypted using 256-bit symmetric encryption. Data in-transit is also encrypted with Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Also, AxCrypt's Password Manager comes equipped with a free Password Generator tool which can generate 'n' number of strong passwords that are not nonsensical and are possible to remember and type.

AxCrypt’s Top Notch Security in a View

Zero-Knowledge Encryption

AxCrypt has zero knowledge of your private keys or password. It means that you – and only you – can decrypt your stored data.

AES-256 bit Algorithm

AxCrypt uses the Advanced Encryption Standard with 256-bit keys for the data encryption.

Secured Share

AxCrypt uses the Asymmetric encryption, enabling you to share your private data with friends, family, and colleagues without disclosing the password.

Secure and Private Servers

AxCrypt’s data centres are located in EU, adhering to the stricter GDPR data laws and NIS2 guidelines.

How Do We Secure Your Data?

AxCrypt use your account password to encrypt your passwords, card details, and notes, which is never stored on your computer or our servers. This means that only you can access your information.

AxCrypt uses the Advanced Encryption Standard with 256-bit keys in Counter mode with a ‘random’ IV for the data encryption.

Key wrapping of the password is done using the NIST specification for AES Key Wrap. The key derived from the password with PBKDF2-SHA512 is only used as a key encrypting key.

When you encrypt your data, AxCrypt uses AES-256 symmetrical strong encrypting algorithm, with a single key used for both encryption and decryption.

In principle, the process in which AxCrypt encrypts data is as follows:

  • The personal data is encrypted using AES and a random 256-bit session key is generated for each time.
  • The session key is encrypted with your password, using a special key wrap algorithm, with AES at the core. This encrypted session key is added to the encrypted data.

To decrypt a file, AxCrypt in principle does the following:

  • Take your password, decrypt the session key encrypted with a password above, and try to decrypt it. The decrypted session key is used to decrypt the data.

What Happens When You Securely Share Details?

AxCrypt’s Password Manager has a secure sharing feature letting you share your passwords, card details, and notes by adding recipients email address, who can access it on their Password Manager. The recipient just needs a free AxCrypt ID and will be automatically invited via email if necessary.

Also, you can set visibility options (once, one day, forever, and so on) while sharing the private data.

AxCrypt uses Asymmetrical encryption to securely share the encrypted data.

When secure sharing, the session key is encrypted using RSA-4096 with the public key of other recipients you’ve chosen to key share the data with. This encrypted session key is added to the encrypted data.

When recipient access the shared data, AxCrypt will take the recipient's private key, to decrypt the session key which was encrypted with the public key. The decrypted session key is then used to decrypt the shared data.

Note: Your private key is encrypted with your account password. AxCrypt never stores your account password on our servers or your computers.
